Meaning of Hadith

A hadith is the saying, action, conversation and silent approval of prophet Muhammad (S. A. W).

In the science of hadith all what the prophet said it is called hadith.

Hadith is a term in Islam that refers to the recorded sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, which were transmitted orally by his companions and later recorded in writing.

Types of Hadith

There are several types of Hadith in Islam which are as follow:

1. Sahih Hadith

These are the most authentic and reliable Hadith, which have been narrated through a chain of trustworthy narrators and are considered to be the most reliable source of guidance for Muslims.

2. Hasan Hadith

These are the Hadith that are not as strong as Sahih Hadith but are still considered reliable.

3. Da’if Hadith

These are the Hadith that have a weakness or deficiency in their chain of narrators or in the text itself, and are therefore not considered as reliable.

4. Mawdu Hadith

These are fabricated or forged Hadith that have been falsely attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, or his companions, and are therefore not considered authentic.

5. Mutawatir Hadith

These are Hadith that have been narrated by a large number of people at each level of transmission, making it impossible for them to have been fabricated.

6. Ahad Hadith

These are Hadith that have been narrated by only one or a few people at each level of transmission, and are therefore considered less reliable than Mutawatir Hadith.
